Medal of Honor Day - March 25th, 2024
Today, the Eugene A. Obregon Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation held a special Ceremony in downtown LA for Medal of Honor Awareness Day.
The Commandant and Senior Vice Commandant had the honor of escorting and presenting Eugene A. Obregon's Medal of Honor (replica) and the Medal of Honor Flag. We also had the privilege of meeting a former classmate of Obregon's.
What a heartfelt tribute to our heroes and namesake!

2/7 Desert Storm Marine Corps Reunion
On March 9th, 2024; MCL Detachment 1347 Sr. Vice Commandant Manuel Ibarra attended the reunion at the Leatherneck club with his old unit. During the reunion, both Sr. Vice Commandant Manuel Ibarra and Web Sergeant Peter She disseminated information about both Veteran benefits that they can utilize through their local Veteran Service Organizations and opportunities for camaraderie through the Marine Corps League, which makes a meaningful impact on the lives of Marines. During this event, MCL Detachment 1347 met Commandant Kevin O’ Brien of MCL 068.
March 2 - 6 is known as National Read Across America Week. This week is the nation's largest celebration of reading. The National Education Association (NEA) established this week of celebration to educate on the importance of reading and its benefits, especially for young children and adults. MCL Detachment 1347 was invited by Brooklyn Avenue Elementary School on March 1st, 2024 to take part in the National Read Across America event.
Our dedicated officers landed in Washington, DC, yesterday for the 2024 Marine Corps League National Mid-Winter Conference.
They are ready to engage, learn, and represent our detachment with pride!
The MCL National Mid-Winter Conference is a mid-year training event hosted and coordinated by the MCL national organization. It is open to all members in good stand of the Marine Corps League.
